About Drienerloos Vocaal Ensemble
DVE is the classical student choir from the University of Twente. For thirty-five years it has been the breeding ground for beginning singers of classical music. DVE brings a varied repertoire. We are working on high-quality concerts, trying to learn a lot from each other, but are 100% accessible for inexperienced singers.
Open rehearsals
In the months September, October and February we have open rehearsals. You are free to walk in to get to know us, singing along or just listen. If you want more information, or if you want to come by during a regular rehearsal, please contact the Board at

Sing with DVE
Low threshold, high level! The voice is an instrument that many people have trained well enough to be able to sing in a choir. If you join us to sing, there is no voice test or audition beforehand. Just by hard work and by beeing seriously busy with music we prevail. Students who want to start singing are welcome to sing along or to come by and listen!
Rehearsals are Wednesday 19.45 - 22.00 hours in the Audiozaal, Vrijhof on UT campus.

Who are we
In DVE sing different people: most are students, some people have a long to very long history with the choir and are very experienced. We have some very serious music connoisseurs, but also members who appreciate above all, joy in singing and in the company of the rest of the choir. The degree of involvement from members, varies and usually grows over time. DVE is an open association of people who are serious about doing music, but gives space to be together and to have fun after the rehearsal, go to a bar, have BBQ's etc.

What we sing
DVE gives performances in December and June with new repertoire. The projects we work on are varied. We do not limit ourselves to (a capella) singing alone and we sing traditional music from different eras and countries that can range from 20th-century music to medieval choral works.
Typical of the DVE is a preference for less-known work. For example: We celebrated our seventh anniversary with the performance of "Spem in alium. A monument in the 40-voice choral music of Thomas Tallis. An impressive work, but also a peculiarity in the choral music that is likely due to its complexity, is not often performed.
